Next newbie question!

Is there a reason why Rpods come with the 13.5k air units instead of a smaller 9k one?  I would think the latter would be more than sufficient to cool down such a small space.  I've seen much more spacious trailers with the 13.5k units.  Am I wrong to think this?  And a 9k unit would be way more genset friendly.  You could easily get away with a single Honda 2000 instead of duals or a heavier Yamaha 2400.  I have heard the 13.5k units are more economical to produce due to economies of scale.  Odd, but if that's true so be it.

What am I missing?

I have no idea, but my guess would be that Forrest River buys these units in mass quantities, and uses them across many platforms, not just the Rpods. 
Makes sense, cost wise. 
Same answer could apply to why they install the microwave oven, or TV mounting bracket, or any of dozens other items.  They buy them in bulk, to lower their cost.

I'm not too worried as to why, since us desert dwellers (sometimes 120 in the shade, and there ain't no shade) believe that when it comes to air conditioning, some is good, more is better, and too much is just enough.  13.5 is fine.

What genset are you using?  And how hard does it work to cool down/keep cool your trailer?  That's what I'd really like to know because if one can get away with a smaller generator then swapping out makes sense.

To eeach their own.  We rarely use the air so it is no big deal for us.  For those that do use it a lot they have the option to change out their ac.  If gensets are  the issue it may be cheaper to change ac units than to buy two Hondas.  In 2011 when we bought our pod the local Honda dealer wanted over $2,000 for enough generator to handle all pod duties.

I explored many options for downsizing the A/C.  I agree it is too big for the space, with the biggest problem that they cycle off too fast to remove much humidity.  You actually get more cooling action from the removal of the humidity than lowering the temperature, and you need a long cycle to do it.  The pods have more then enough insulation to handle 120 degree heat even with a smaller A/C - I camped down to 10 F and kept the inside temp at 70 with a small cube heater.
