The red light is ONLY associated with the LP mode. It lights when the switch is on, the thermostat is calling for heat, and the burner is not lit. The light will go out when the burner ignites. The 120V system is completely independent and has NO visual indicator.

Thanks Charlie that makes sense. So there is no reason to have both the electrical and the LP on at the same time. It's one or the other.

I disagree. We use both electric and LP almost always while in camp. The water heats up so quickly and stays plentiful. We only turn the LP off at the switch at night because it fires under our heads and the noise bothers me - otherwise it would always be on while in camp.

There is no harm in having both on, you do get faster recovery time.. Since we don't have kids and such, it's no issue to us, but many do need the faster recovery time..

I had a much faster recovery time when I was 25. Wish I had that back. Oh well, cheers!
