3rd time out in our new pod! No issues the 1st two times but this time we notice the water heater pilot light keeps going off. The DSL fault light comes on and the pilot tries to light itself numerous times but is not usually successful when we switch off and on the water heater it will usually relight after a couple tries. Just wondering if any may know what is going on or had similar issue? Thanks for all your help in advance!

Probably just air in the lines. Make sure the valve on the propane tank is all the way open and purge the air in the lines by lighting each burner for 15 seconds. Then try it again.

Edit: There is also two reset buttons on the outside, you can try those if this doesn't work.

There is no pilot light. DSI stands for Direct Spark Ignition. It lights when it needs to light, shuts off when done. If it tries 3 times, and doesn't light, it "faults" and you get the light on on the panel. Shut off and let it try again. It may take several tries for the gas to get back there. Lighting a burner for a few seconds will purge the line, and you won't have to go through this.

If you purged the lines when you turned on the propane you shouldn't have to do it again during the same trip.

Yes we purged the lines when initially setting up. However it ha worked to re-purge them, any ideas? Maybe just have dealer look?

No idea on why a re-purge would be necessary.  I'd see how it goes for a while before getting a dealer involved.

When running the water on electricity is the water heater switch light supposed to come on? When I turn on the water heater switch on the panel while I have the electrical heat switched on outside, the water heater switch does not light up.

Yes. I'm talking about the inside panel and the red water heater switch. I was wondering if the red switch lights up when switched on.

Thanks.

The red light is ONLY associated with the LP mode. It lights when the switch is on, the thermostat is calling for heat, and the burner is not lit. The light will go out when the burner ignites. The 120V system is completely independent and has NO visual indicator.

Thanks Charlie that makes sense. So there is no reason to have both the electrical and the LP on at the same time. It's one or the other.

I disagree. We use both electric and LP almost always while in camp. The water heats up so quickly and stays plentiful. We only turn the LP off at the switch at night because it fires under our heads and the noise bothers me - otherwise it would always be on while in camp.

There is no harm in having both on, you do get faster recovery time.. Since we don't have kids and such, it's no issue to us, but many do need the faster recovery time..

I had a much faster recovery time when I was 25. Wish I had that back. Oh well, cheers!
