I also noticed when Bauer sent me the replacement they had changed the method of locking.  Used to be you had to enter your code to lock it.   Now you can lock it without the code...not real fond of that, yes it is convenient but if some joker presses the bottom two buttons he can lock it also...so better keep a spare key handy just in case.Smile

Been a feature on Fords for a decade or more now.. nobody has ever messed with them that I am aware of. And if some joker locks it...? so what? they did you a favor. You must be away from the camper, now it's locked, and you know the code. Seems like a good thing to me.

Unless like I already mentioned I had one that would lock every time but would only unlock occasionally...so knowing the code made no difference-   you weren't getting back in without the key.

Scenario 2>   someone locks it for you, that was the last bit of battery.   You don't have the key.

Oh BTW "some joker" also includes my very inquisitive 7 yr old grandson.LOL

Trip before last he stuck a penny in the driver seat belt buckle.  Took me an hour to fix...had to remove the seat to get the buckle off then quite awhile to get the jammed penny out, the buckle housing can't be opened.  The penny was firmly wedged in when I went to plug my seatbelt in, not knowing it was there.

Ever hear of that?

A penny for your thoughts as you worked on that.

My thoughts?  In a family forum?  NaaahhTongue

Of course I now have a good story to tell on him the rest of my life-  The Penny Incident

One of those experiences that was a PITA at the time but now that it is over it was kinda funny!
Of course the little guy never anticipated what grief just a penny could cause...

Speaking of getting locked out-  my wife noticed one day that if one folded the entry help bar by the door, over the door, you could "lock" someone IN their camper!
Chatting with a guy in a campground I mentioned that- his face lit up.

He couldn't wait to pull that on some of his camping buddies!

We used ours multiple times every day while on our 2 week trip. It never acted up once. But I always carried keys along, just in case.
That said, I've noticed that you CAN get the lock "out of faze".
If you start pushing buttons before it lights up, it will only recognize the buttons pushed after it lights up. then if you start over, it will relock, instead of unlock. Or vise versa. I learned early on to wait for the light. I did replace the batteries just before vacation, because the original cheapies were still in there. We probably used the lock 20 times a day....for 17 days in a row.

Budward,
I've repaired numerous seat belt buckles with things intentionally jammed in them. We do work for a troubled childrens home. This is one of the first things they think of to defy authority. Never a fun proposition. A dental pick usually does the trick.

I have a 2014 179 that was built in Feb. of this year. My Bauer lock will unlock but not lock. I've tried several times (with the door open) but I can't find the secret to get it to lock.

Any ideas...?
