I was wondering about covering as well but not because of harsh winter weather but more for hot humid weather. If we cover in between our trips (no more than 2 months) won't it get moldy smelling? I just wonder if it will trap the damp humid air. I know it would help with fading of decals but is that worth covering?

We got our 2014 178 two weeks ago.  We got the Pebble interior, and we like it.  I also like the bronze faucet with the pull-out sprayer.  Our keyless entry took a little getting used to, but we're now able to operate it consistently.  It takes a practiced touch.  We went on our first camping trip last weekend - everything worked great - and I had it winterized this morning.  I can't WAIT for spring now!  One question for the group:  to cover or not to cover?  My husband doesn't think it's needed, but I'm thinking it will help protect it while sitting outside all winter.  What does the experienced podder think?
Happy tails and trails!

The latch on my 176 didn't work either. It would lock with the key from the outside, but not at all from the inside. After my first two trips, I had a list of items for the dealer to fix, that being one of them.

We bought our 2011 R-P172 in Oct also and only got to squeeze in two trips that year before we had to winterize and cover it up. I spent a lot of time that winter setting in the pod reading the manuals, doing light mods and planning. it worked out pretty well. you still have a little time left even if its a driveway camp out

What year is yours?  There is an active recall on the locks, yours may be covered by it.  As for winterization, it isn't hard.  See the link in my signature for instructions.

We had our first outing this past week and everything went well!! We had a good time and my son and I are going back to the area again today for the night.....we found a great fishing hole and were pulling in trout on our fly lines!! The only thing tht doesnt work is the latch on the door...I had to put foil in to keep the door jamb in position and even then the deadbolt wont work so the combination is useless...anyone else have this issue??
The plan is to have trout for lunch tomorrow!!
It is time for us to winterize and I am anxious about it because it is so new to us.....I will take it in to get it done at a dealer.....maybe next year!!

Going to be a BIG upgrade from the Dutchman T@DA we had!!!

That is great!  welcome and congrats.

I have enjoyed reading many of the posts and have been taking notes Smile. If there is a Florida Pod outing we would love to know about it.  Looking forward to running into other Pod owners in our travels.

Congratulations, glad to have you out there with us.  You'll love you 178!
