Unfortunately a single drain is impossible for the models with a slide.

Some slide models have a single drain, mine does.  Depends on the floorplan and where the tanks can actually fit.

The HRE models have the black tank flush on the slide side typically.  But one reason for it not to be there is for it not to ever be confused with the city water inlet and you ever accidentally cross contaminating.

As far as a switch inside, some have wired up a switch for theirs inside.

Easy solution for the WH switch is to use the circuit breaker. Not quite as convenient, but a lot easier than going outside.

kymooses, I thought all of the slides had the tanks on either side of the slide. My bad!
