Some slide models have a single drain, mine does. The HRE models have the black tank flush on the slide side typically. But one reason for it not to be there is for it not to ever be confused with the city water inlet and you ever accidentally cross contaminating. Easy solution for the WH switch is to use the circuit breaker. Not quite as convenient, but a lot easier than going outside.
