Calendar Event: Rpod 178 Newbies Posted: 29 Oct 2014 at 6:58pm |
Well, here we go! We Take delivery on it tomorrow! Will be hauling it with an F 150 (v8). I am curious if anyone advises a weight distribution hitch and or the sway bar?
Folks at dealership advised not to worry about it at this time.
Will be enjoying this gem! First new rv we have purchased.
So, Hello to all Loren

With the F150 you fall in the category of "don't really need it, but might want it." Good luck on your trip home.

Welcome. At the very least you should get a sway bar. They are cheap. However, even with a heavy-dity TV a WDH will give you a better ride and better control under extreme conditions.

We bought our 178 in June. Tow it with a Sierra small 8 with WDH and sway bars. Put a lift kit on the Pod and when driving I keep looking back to make sure it is still there. Works extremely well.

Hello from San Antonio! I know something about Oregonians, since I used to be one! Go Trail Blazers...I mean go SPURS! Congratulations on your new 178. We just finished a week long trip and loved it!

Yes, but I needed it to extend my hitch capacity from 3k to 6k and TW capacity from 300lb to 600lb per the hitch manufacture specs. I also have double friction sway bars. So far, I have towed over 2000 miles and it is rock solid. You may not need it on a nice commerce blue sky beautiful fall day. But you may wish you had it on wet, stormy, wind gusting, truck bow wave bouncing crappy day. An updated set-up is referred to as E2 and includes a double cam spring bar action to prevent sway.
