Am confused...
Is this about how you hate your dishes? Or your dishes hate you? Or.. Maybe.. Dish storage? lol. In our 177, above the sink, paper plates and red solo cups. I don't like to do any more dishes than I have to when camping. |

Mark and Sue: thanks so much for the reply to the "non-question". My husband was trying to research the R-pod forum on our iPad and screwed it up (don't tell him I said that). Actually you did answer our question. We find that even pretty small dinner plates don't fit in the cabinet over the sink either flat or standing on end. I think we're going to look for some that are smaller than 9 inches so they will fit. We do use paper plates for sandwiches and things but, since we are planning to do a cross country trip, we will probably use regular dishes if we can find some that will fit. I have to weigh trying to be "green" against the extra water we will use washing dishes!

If you are going to be out for a long period, and like cooking on the road/at camp.. May I suggest a set of "nesting pots"? We have Cuisenart.. love them.
Quick link You may have to look around.. also a gas stove heat diffuser or "simmer plate" thing is handy. Also.. welcome to the forum, and since you live in NC.. there is a r-pod rally coming up there in June.. Come meat some fellow podders.. NC Rally link Have fun. |

Welcome. I was wondering at first, too... We're taking the opposite approach for our upcoming 3-week tour of the southern US. We always wash dishes and are all-around pretty "green" |

Usually, I've got a pot or a frypan or a kitchen knife or BBQ utensils or something else that has to be washed anyway. So, for the sake of washing a few plates and cups, I just wash everything.
Lunch dishes, particularly if lunch is just a sandwich or something simple, are left to wash with the dinner dishes.

![]() We use a wire picnic caddy similar to the one shown here. The cups go into the square cubicles and the plates stand up in the long opening. It all stores in the cabinet below the sink and the plates and glasses stay secure when traveling. |

I store my dishes in one of the drawers and the pots under the sink.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I'm sure we'll have more questions as we get our new (to us) r-pod ready for traveling. We're hoping to do a couple of short, local trips in April and early May to figure out our storage and how to do everything and then leave in late May for a 6 week trip. Would love to go to the rally in NC and meet other r-podders but I'm afraid it won't fit in with our plans. Of course, plans can always change!

We started with plastic plates and cups and have largely gone to paper and other disposable things. We store them in the drawers.
