Good luck to all Podders. Techntrek, I think you get the award for being the most prepared! We are in upstate NY so our prep was just making sure we had food and water, and getting all potential dead limbs down in surrounding trees and having enough gas for our generator. Stay safe out there!

Crosshairs are right over me as of about noon on Tuesday, according to the storm track shown on the NOAA website.  I'm ready to go - extra gas for the Prius (which has been modified to power our house), full tank of propane for the big generator.  With winds of 65 mph and us at the end of a 20 mile run from the substation I expect to be without power for quite a while.  We always keep extra supplies so we didn't have to make a mad run to the store - although we did need extra candy for the big Halloween campout we attend every year and so we were there anyway on Saturday.  An entire aisle of water - gone.  Half of the toilet paper was gone, half of the bleach.  Surprisingly the milk was all there.

Prayers to everyone that will be affected by this.

It seems strange-  sitting here on the Gulf Coast of Florida-   enjoying some cooler, drier fall weather, and wishing everyone in the Northeast luck and safety as Frankenstorm trundles your way.  Usually we are apt to be in the crosshairs.

We have relatives in New Jersey, friends in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Also, an ex-wife in Maine-  too bad it couldn't all head there!

Stay safe everyone.

Our pod is parked 20-mins north in a field behind a friend's farmhouse.  It's safe there but the problem during Irene was that fallen trees and branches on the roads blocked our access to the farm.  Considering we're in flood Zone V, bringing the pod down to the house is not an option.  Did think a lot about hot showers in the pod bathroom during the aftermath of Irene....Tongue

Stay safe everyone.

Good idea on toping off the water tank.  I have several power backups but having the water itself ready to go is easy.

I would try to get out of the way of the storm as early as possible.  if you wait too long and there is flooding or other items you need to get around you will also have 18 foot of trailer to get around.  I'm setting up my r-pod this weekend as a shelter in case of flooding or power outages due to the storm.  I plan to fill the fresh water tank and have 3 fully topped batteries and about 100 lbs of propane.  We have been flooded before and without power so well water we can not get to.  I'm also moving it out to our other property and putting it out in the field away from anything that may fall.  If I do this we will not need it.
