Topic: Sewer tank flusher Posted: 09 Jul 2012 at 9:58pm |
I was using the sewer tank flusher last time we were out and forgot (dumb!!:)) to leave the valve open on the tank. When we got home I noticed a little bit of water on the floor...put two and two together and figured there must be a relief valve on the line. I called our dealer and the mechanic said that there was a pop valve and we would have gotten a little water on the floor, but what he couldn't tell me was if the pop valve would re-seat itself?? I'm assuming it would; hooked it up again, opened things up and seems fine. Anyone else know for sure if the pressure valve re-seats itself? If not I'll have to call RPod direct and ask them.

Hopefully someone can help, my pod didn't come with one of these systems. I find it odd that you would need to leave the tank valve open - you would want to, to get everything flushed out, but from a pressure standpoint the tank has an open-air vent (on the roof, just like a house) which should prevent any pressure buildup.

It does seem funny for sure. I think I'll just call Forest River and talk to a technician there and see what they have to say.

I flushed my blackwater tank while draining the graywater tank once (brain cramp). It caused no water on the floor or any other problem, except the stupid feeling that the operator got. Nothing new.

We used our builtin flusher recently and I dutifully read the label on the outside of the trailer that said to make sure the valves were open before "flushing." I do believe that someone had posted that they had not opened the gate valves prior to flushing and had a geyser in the bath. Hope that helps. Safe Travels.

The head is the only opening to the tank in the bathroom, and in mine it closes quite completely unless flushing. I can't see where a geyser could come from, unless the tank overfllowed the vent and the water came in through the fan.

Your correct. Just mentioning what the sticker on the side of my trailer warns against. It did not say anything about "Old Faithful" in the head, but I believe that is what someone posted recently. Safe Travels.

Thanks for your help...I'm assuming there won't be any further problems...as long as I remember to open the valve
