Nice pic and welcome. I don't think you'll have any issues with your Taco. We've pulled our 2014 178 across the country (west coast) and back and up and down the east coast with no problems - 08 4Runner 4.0 Limited. It does have towing package. Only real challenge was 50+ mph headwinds crossing Wyoming.

Have fun!

Hello all,

Happy to say I just picked up a really nice used 2014 177 last week and made my first overnight trip this weekend. Loved it, no issues worked like a champ. Upgraded from a pop up trailer, many of you I am sure have done the same. Needless to say what a difference.

The old owner upgraded the bed mattress, switched out to all LED lights inside and upgraded the foam in the dinette seats.

My tow vehicle is a 2009 Toyota Tacoma access cab 4.0 V6. It towed pretty well and on my short 200 mile trip I averaged 13.5 mph. Not bad since I was thought it would be about 10mph. But then again I did not climb many hills. Obviously a V8 would be better on the hills. Plan to put a transmission cooler in sometime soon.

Btw, great forum. I learned many things before my purchase and before going out on my first overnight. You'll be hearing from me from time to time.

Don

Welcome R + B.  Make sure your dealer shows you how to retract the slide manually.

We just bought a 2016 R-Pod 179, our last trailer was a 2008 T@DA, so this seems really big to us. We love the storage, the open feel with the dinette in the slide out , the kitchen on the end with the window above it. We have a Tacoma pickup, 6 cylinder to pull it and we use a sway bar, we have only had one opportunity to use it so far. We drove about 7 hours to glass butte in Oregon, way in the middle of nowhere. We could not get our slide to open, It worked great in our driveway. We were still able to use it, even with it stuck inside. It is at the RV dealer now and as backed up as they are I doubt we will be able to use it till spring. We love the U tubes, lots of information. We like the posts, if someone has a issue with something, it alerts us to check just in case. My husband is retired, I hope to be in a couple of years and we plan on getting a lot of use with our new R-Pod.

Thanks Doug - your's is one of the posts I saw before joining.  The R-Pod manual you are putting together is "very" cool!
