We are so happy to be able to pick up our R-Pod 171 next Wednesday.  We have already been looking at this forum for answers and are very impressed.  Not only are we new to the R-Pod, but this is our first travel trailer.  This is such an impressive trailer for the $$$s.  We plan on towing with our Honda 2004 Pilot and chose the R171 due to the low weight.  We will probably lean on your help often.  Thanks for being here:)

Thanks Doug - your's is one of the posts I saw before joining.  The R-Pod manual you are putting together is "very" cool!

We just bought a 2016 R-Pod 179, our last trailer was a 2008 T@DA, so this seems really big to us. We love the storage, the open feel with the dinette in the slide out , the kitchen on the end with the window above it. We have a Tacoma pickup, 6 cylinder to pull it and we use a sway bar, we have only had one opportunity to use it so far. We drove about 7 hours to glass butte in Oregon, way in the middle of nowhere. We could not get our slide to open, It worked great in our driveway. We were still able to use it, even with it stuck inside. It is at the RV dealer now and as backed up as they are I doubt we will be able to use it till spring. We love the U tubes, lots of information. We like the posts, if someone has a issue with something, it alerts us to check just in case. My husband is retired, I hope to be in a couple of years and we plan on getting a lot of use with our new R-Pod.

Welcome R + B.  Make sure your dealer shows you how to retract the slide manually.

Hello all,

Happy to say I just picked up a really nice used 2014 177 last week and made my first overnight trip this weekend. Loved it, no issues worked like a champ. Upgraded from a pop up trailer, many of you I am sure have done the same. Needless to say what a difference.

The old owner upgraded the bed mattress, switched out to all LED lights inside and upgraded the foam in the dinette seats.

My tow vehicle is a 2009 Toyota Tacoma access cab 4.0 V6. It towed pretty well and on my short 200 mile trip I averaged 13.5 mph. Not bad since I was thought it would be about 10mph. But then again I did not climb many hills. Obviously a V8 would be better on the hills. Plan to put a transmission cooler in sometime soon.

Btw, great forum. I learned many things before my purchase and before going out on my first overnight. You'll be hearing from me from time to time.

Don

Nice pic and welcome. I don't think you'll have any issues with your Taco. We've pulled our 2014 178 across the country (west coast) and back and up and down the east coast with no problems - 08 4Runner 4.0 Limited. It does have towing package. Only real challenge was 50+ mph headwinds crossing Wyoming.

Have fun!

fred

We just picked up our new (to us) 2011 181-g.  Found it in Lewiston, ID and dragged it back to San Diego this week.  Still trying to figure it all out but are pretty excited.

We bought our rpod 178 in June. We are new to towing so are getting used to that. Our tow vehicle is a Toyota Tacoma, 6 cylinder. We live in northern Califonia. We have taken our Pod out twice so far and are quite happy with it. We do have some questions though. The trip we took a couple of weeks ago, we attempted to start up the heater one morning. When we tried to set the thermostat to heat the AC started blowing. That was definitely not good since it was about 40 degrees in there. What is the procedure for heater start up? Also, water heater worked great, but when we packed up to go home, we still had water dripping from the back side of the trailer. Did we forget to empty something? Any suggestions for newbies would be appreciated! Thanks

Kidhammon - welcome.

TGIF - only the A/C's fan came on.  Set the fan to "auto" and it will stay off when the heater is running.  There are times it is useful to turn on the A/C fan to distribute the heat better.

Hi All, We just bought a 179 and love it!! We have only had it for 11 days and have been camping twice. We have been reading all of the input from this forum and the site has been very helpful. We do hope that there might be a rally close to Norfolk Va. Thanks again. The Lazy Goose ( Chris and Deb)

We are so excited to have finally got our 2016 RPOD 179.  Hasn't made it out on its maiden voyage yet, but have been playing camping in our yard for a couple weeks.  Pulling it with our 2008 Honda Pilot.  We have been tent campers for years and can't wait to experience our step up.
