Campground has good amenities, 2 pools, mini and real golf, direct access to the hiking and biking trails at MCNP.
Also since it is just down the road, the National Corvette museum is nice, even if it's GM.. LOL.

Very good to know. We found that out after making our reservation, and they don't do refunds. We were just going to rough it that night - and hope the temps fell low enough to be comfortable with a fan or two. I'll mention that campground to my wife, we might just eat the $17 loss at the in-park campground to have A/C. |
If you can't get it worked out, we are just over an hour north of there, not to far off your route of travel.. 30amps available anytime. We own campers BECAUSE of the need for AC here in the summer.. (well, and I am a fan of having our own "facilities" when needed)

Thanks. My wife is going to call Diamond Caverns tomorrow to see if they have room the night we need it.

Sounds like a great trip. I don't know when you're starting your trip (we'll be gone a week in June) but if Atlanta gets to be to much of a pain we're about 1 1/2 hours east off I20. Not really out of the way to Tybee. You're welcome to stay here. We have 30 amp service and water.

Thanks for the offer! I think Google is taking me down 85 so probably not too close to you from what I see on the map.

I hope google is taking you down I75 not 85. Going I20 to 441 (Madison) is only about 15 miles longer and a much prettier drive. A note about I16, there aren't to many exits with gas. Dublin and Metter are probably the best bets for gas, food and bathrooms.

From Baltimore it takes me down 95 just south of Richmond, then across 85 to Atlanta. 75 is half of the trip to Tybee Island. I'll have to look at your scenic route.

Hard to believe the time has almost arrived, we'll be getting on the road on Friday. My wife flew to Atlanta this morning and we'll pick her up on Sunday. Looks like sun in the forecast for Tybee Island on Sunday so that is a good start.

Unless you really want to go to Atlanta you would be better off staying far away from it. It can take hours getting through because of the traffic.
