Due to the Pods lack of storage and shelf space I make a inexpensive fender shelf from a $9.95 prefinished stair tread, a couple of eye hooks and bungee cards. I used 1x1 strips to center the fender and applied self adhesive foam strips to keep it from sliding. works pretty good.

here is a picture of the bottom with the foam applied to keep it from sliding and marking the fender. (I had to double post is as I don't know how to add multiple pictures, heck I am lucky I can resize to get to post in the first place)

I came up with this as Donna does not like the smell of coffee, so I put my fresh ground beans in my little maker and the electric plug is just beside the shelf. it works great, weighs less than 4lbs. If you get lucky and catch some fish I will transfer the shelf to the hook up side and Donna won't come out when I am fileting fish and holler, ohh yuck. easy clean up and put away till the next time.

I sympathize with your wife.  I like the smell of coffee, but can't drink it.  Nice shelf, I've only seen that once before, I think it was Podsible Dream that made one but with 2 legs.  Any chance you can switch out the pics with something a little bigger?  I think 6" x 8" works well.

Been thinking of something like that.. only I want it to be a bit of a "box" that sits there, and has a 12v entertainment system built in, one of those power out little TV screen dvd player and speakers, all built in..

My DW is the same, loves when I make coffee cause the smell is just great to her, but she can't stand to drink it.

Love this shelf Mod!  Very useable addition to that space.

I blame it on my father.  For a few years he often drove me to school.  His coffee cup was in one of those "on the hump" cupholders/organizers.  My backpack was on the floor next to it, and invariably the coffee would spill onto the backpack.  So I smelled stale coffee all day.  Blech.

Don't ask me why I didn't put the backpack in the back seat.  I don't know!

techntrek, I used the resize website and I always have trouble selecting what will fit in the pod site. I will try to repost larger pictures any suggestions ? I use the resize images on line. the shelf works well, is quite sturdy, you can use it on either side. with the one by one wood pieces I leveled the shelf and then slid the one bys up on each side of the fender, marked them and screwed them in from the bottom. I used one inch square foam with an adhesive backing on the bottom of the one bys and one in the center of the shelf, this keeps the shelf from sliding on the fender. the bungees keep it quite stable.

techntrek, p.s. what size can I get on this site. I see quite large photos but how do they get them that large and under the 75kb size allowed ?

This was the one that I made out of one side of an old bird cage, Mother Goose was not real happy when she figured out where the wire came from. Goose
