Due to the Pods lack of storage and shelf space I make a inexpensive fender shelf from a $9.95 prefinished stair tread, a couple of eye hooks and bungee cards. I used 1x1 strips to center the fender and applied self adhesive foam strips to keep it from sliding. works pretty good.

here is a picture of the bottom with the foam applied to keep it from sliding and marking the fender. (I had to double post is as I don't know how to add multiple pictures, heck I am lucky I can resize to get to post in the first place)

I came up with this as Donna does not like the smell of coffee, so I put my fresh ground beans in my little maker and the electric plug is just beside the shelf. it works great, weighs less than 4lbs. If you get lucky and catch some fish I will transfer the shelf to the hook up side and Donna won't come out when I am fileting fish and holler, ohh yuck. easy clean up and put away till the next time.

I sympathize with your wife.  I like the smell of coffee, but can't drink it.  Nice shelf, I've only seen that once before, I think it was Podsible Dream that made one but with 2 legs.  Any chance you can switch out the pics with something a little bigger?  I think 6" x 8" works well.

Been thinking of something like that.. only I want it to be a bit of a "box" that sits there, and has a 12v entertainment system built in, one of those power out little TV screen dvd player and speakers, all built in..

My DW is the same, loves when I make coffee cause the smell is just great to her, but she can't stand to drink it.

Love this shelf Mod!  Very useable addition to that space.

I blame it on my father.  For a few years he often drove me to school.  His coffee cup was in one of those "on the hump" cupholders/organizers.  My backpack was on the floor next to it, and invariably the coffee would spill onto the backpack.  So I smelled stale coffee all day.  Blech.

Don't ask me why I didn't put the backpack in the back seat.  I don't know!

techntrek, I used the resize website and I always have trouble selecting what will fit in the pod site. I will try to repost larger pictures any suggestions ? I use the resize images on line. the shelf works well, is quite sturdy, you can use it on either side. with the one by one wood pieces I leveled the shelf and then slid the one bys up on each side of the fender, marked them and screwed them in from the bottom. I used one inch square foam with an adhesive backing on the bottom of the one bys and one in the center of the shelf, this keeps the shelf from sliding on the fender. the bungees keep it quite stable.

techntrek, p.s. what size can I get on this site. I see quite large photos but how do they get them that large and under the 75kb size allowed ?

This was the one that I made out of one side of an old bird cage, Mother Goose was not real happy when she figured out where the wire came from. Goose

dsmiths.. what I do is just put them on photobucket, full size upload from my device, then when I link them here, they show up fine. Using kB size doesn't work well, because file size does not equal picture size, the amount of picture detail affects it also.

is easypeasy freesy..

Yes, the resolution of the picture weighs into the total size.  I think I usually have mine set to 72 pixels/inch when I resize them to 6 x 8 for this site.

FYI for Windows users. Paint, included with Windows, will resize an image without going to a third party service. With the large image on the desktop, right click on the image and select "open with". Click on Paint. After the image load, click on "Resize" at the upper left on the menu bar. Then select "Pixels. I find 640 or 800 horizontal pixels yield a good size for uploading. The resulting file siz will be about 250 KB. Be sure the "maintain aspect ratio" box remains checked. Then "save as" back to the desktop with the original name or a new one if you want to retain the original.

Yea, I'm still here....! Been busier since I retired than before, it seems!  I like your solution for the fender shelf, but I always try to avoid tying things down with elastic cords.  So I made the two leg shelf.  The 4 cup (2 mug) coffee maker sits there, always 24/7,, along with a coffee container and a sugar jar!  I'm up at 6, BW at 8+ so coffee and a fire are going first!
On the other side of the pod, I made a shelf for washing dishes (won't find me with soft clean hands on a camping trip!) for the BW.  I used a 5 ft length of white coated shelf, two of the reinforced angle brackets and two of those clips they sell to hold the shelving up.  Rest the center of the shelf on the fender and support the ends with brackets, hold close to the wall with the clips.  I have an auxiliary shower on the street side wall (see several posts on how these can be installed) so dish pans can be filled, rinsing complete, etc and nice clean dishes show up the next meal for the delicious food we serve at Chez Free Spirit.  I think I posted some photos.  If not let me know and I will do so.  BTW, I am not afraid to put holes in the sides of my pod.  The mfr does it, so with a good application of white silicone, I drill away, usually using short Molly bolts to fasten too the walls.

Happy podding!  Walt

We were thinking of a fender shelf too! Love the ideas here. G is nervous about drilling into the side of the pod (we haven;t done our outdoor shower mod yet :( ).

We have a laptop speaker we use and a BT speaker as well.

g4, I didn't drill any holes, the prefinished tread is rounded 0n one edge and flat on the other. I put the flat edge toward the pod, It sets on foam strips on top of 1 by 1, this keeps it from sliding. the bungees keep it setting tight on top of the fender.

Dane- I think g4 was speaking to my dish washing shelf in the thread earlier, where I put shelf brackets on the street side of the pod on either side of the fender.  I fill the holes I drill with silicone then put the Molly's or other fittings in.

The outer fiberglass shell of the pod is bonded to the layer of expanded styrofoam under it - no room for water to lean in between the layers.  Looking at the shell of the pod there are lots of holes in it - from windows to lights to electrical outlets.  With care, an owner can customize the shell as well. -  Walt
