Topic: Chirp sound Posted: 24 Mar 2016 at 11:11am |
Our 2015 179 is in the barn for the winter, and plugged in. Every now and then, when I am in the barn I hear a very faint , fraction of a second, chirp coming from the vicinity of the rPod. I can't figure out what is chirping. Any ideas?

Might check your batteries in smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm

99.99% answer. Only a few things chirp like that, the 2 sensors mentioned, the propane detector if the 12v system gets low, and the fridge if the door is left open and it's turned on (some fridges beep if the selected power source isn't available also).

so the smoke and CO detectors are not hard wired? I will have to go look for them as I don't know where they are.

It was the smoke detector, and it is not hard wired - needs the usual 9.6 v battery. Now I need to go get some more so I will have a spare. Makes me wonder if the one in my old tent trailer that I had assumed was hard wired, had a dead battery over the winter and was never replaced.

Funny thing that you brought that up. Checked our 177 in our horse barn and hearing the same chirping sound. Took a minute to figure which detector it was as it would go off about every 30 seconds. It was the carbon monoxide detector in our case, quick fix with a 9 volt battery. Not bad in that it lasted for just over 5 years. Hardest thing was getting to the barn, had a significant snow last night and today, near blizzard conditions now, can't hardly see anything, except white.

I always pull the batteries in the CO and smoke detectors over the winter.

Same here and always put a fresh one in at the beginning of the season.

The detector down at floor level is hard wired, I discovered.
