Our 2015 179 is in the barn for the winter, and plugged in. Every now and then, when I am in the barn I hear a very faint , fraction of a second, chirp coming from the vicinity of the rPod.  I can't figure out what is chirping.  Any ideas?

Might check your batteries in smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm

99.99% answer.

Only a few things chirp like that, the 2 sensors mentioned, the propane detector if the 12v system gets low, and the fridge if the door is left open and it's turned on (some fridges beep if the selected power source isn't available also).

so the smoke and CO detectors are not hard wired?  I will have to go look for them as I don't know where they are.

It was the smoke detector, and it is not hard wired - needs the usual 9.6 v battery.   Now I need to go get some more so I will have a spare.   Makes me wonder if the one in my old tent trailer that I had assumed was hard wired,  had a dead battery over the winter and was never replaced.

Funny thing that you brought that up.  Checked our 177 in our horse barn and hearing the same chirping sound.  Took a minute to figure which detector it was as it would go off about every 30 seconds.  It was the carbon monoxide detector in our case, quick fix with a 9 volt battery.  Not bad in that it lasted for just over 5 years.  Hardest thing was getting to the barn, had a significant snow last night and today, near blizzard conditions now, can't hardly see anything, except white.

I always pull the batteries in the CO and smoke detectors over the winter.

The detector down at floor level is hard wired, I discovered.

That is the LP detector.  It uses too much power to run on a small battery.

The LP detectors can go bad. I had to replace ours one month after we bought our 179. Real easy to replace.

Note that all 3 detectors have expiration dates, something to keep an eye on.  When I bought my current camper 2 of the 3 detectors were expired.

3 detectors, huh? Where is the third one?

Depending on what model you have thy might be in slightly different locations.

The smoke detector hangs from the ceiling, ours inconveniently mounted right above the microwave/convection oven.  Runs on a 9V battery and will chirp when the battery is weak.  The cover swings off to one side where you can replace the battery.

The carbon monoxide (CO) sensor is on the wall near the ceiling above the bed.  It also runs on a 9V battery that should chirp if the battery is weak or the sensor is going bad.  They have a date stamp on them and should be replaced every 5 years, mine went bad last year as it's a 2010 model.  The whole sensor twists off from a bracket that secures it to the wall and there is a battery compartment on the back where you can remove and replace the battery.

The third sensor is a propane sensor, which is hardwired and runs off the campers big 12V battery, usually on the dinette seat about 8 inches to a foot off the ground, looks like a gray square box with a green LED on the front of it.  Ours has never chirped but alarms loud and steady.  I've found that sometimes stinky sulfur water fumes from a campsite can trip it.  It's only gone off twice and both times we had the gas tank shut off.

so I changed the battery in the CO detector.  Will check for the smoke detector in the kitchen - probably change it as well.
