Good to know, we'll be in NO this summer for a day or two as we tour the south.

Just came from New Orleans. Stayed in the KOA west of New Orleans. The spaces are tiny, the roads are not in great shape, but the bathrooms are clean and the people are very nice. They offer a free shuttle into the French Quarter, which VIPs very convenient.

West KOA is in a better area than the East one. But, people come there to "base camp" into the French Quarter. If you want bigger sites and ambiance, stay across the lake at Fairview State Park, or Fontainebleau State Park. These parks give a 50% discount for the Federal Senior Pass. So you can camp for around $10 /night with electricity and water ... some sites with sewer. It is a 35 mile drive across the worlds longest bridge into the French Quarter.

I love driving that bridge. So, are we going to do this or not?

Its looking likely that we'll be in town all day on July 11th and 12th (starting the evening of the 10th and leaving the morning of the 13th). My wife is pushing for us to stay at the west KOA right now...

Mid July.... don't bring a coat. Make sure your A/C is in good shape. Maybe we can say hello...

We heard there was going to be a roundup at Raccoon Holler in Jefferson County, NC the weekend of June 15. We made reservations via email but have not called to follow up to learn whether it is still on.
The Campground is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway east of Boone, NC.
