Ok we don't have our Rpod yet, (next week) but we are planning on having our asphalt driveway fixed and the contractor said you can't park an rv on asphalt or it will ruin the asphalt.  Has anyone ever heard of this before???

Do it all the time, including our much-heavier Salem (twice as heavy as the pods).  No difference between the wheels and pavement of a car or camper.

Throw a chunk of wood under the tongue jack so it doesn't sink in when the asphalt is hot.

Doesn't sound like your contractor knows what he is talking about. A couple precautions and your fine.

I'd find another paving contractor if he is unrealistic about what his paving job can withstand. Like the other poster said - just put a block of wood under the tongue jack to keep it from sinking into the asphalt.

Good point, I would start worrying that he is selling you a too-thin layer of asphault.  I believe 4+ inches is recommended for a new job, and 2+ for a re-top.
