In a cage with a blanket, for him and for you.  Go for a 10 minute ride one day, then 20 the next, and work your way up.

Our cat Fender doesn't know it yet but he is about to become a camping cat!  He doesn't like the car!  Any suggestions on how to make him ease into camping?

Just remember at most private and especially federal campgrounds pets are not allowed in any facility ( including bathrooms) unless they are services animals.
