So I hear I need to change my anode rod but ther dealer wants 235 bucks to do this and I am not paying that ! DO you guys know which Anode Rod I need to get ? I know they come in magnesium aluminum etc and some are 9 inch some are 9.5 I have a 2023 rpod 180 beast mode and the water heater definitely needs to get a new one I think. I used this in my 2016 180 (9-1/2 inch): It's a two-pack, but the 2nd one costs $1.50, so it's worth it if you have some place to store it (and you can remember where you put it!) Edited by poston - 06 Nov 2025 at 3:53pm |

eBay has 9.5" anode rods as well. $10.99 and up for aluminum and $ 20.05 for magnesium AND as always, free shipping. I would likely just purchase one unless you have really bad water and replace yours on a regular basis. I am still on my original anode, which came with our 177 when we ordered it back in January 2011. Yes, 14+ years old and still has a lot of life left in it, has only seen well water, no city water.

I replace ours once a year whether it needs it or not. I use these from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9WRQH9N?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
This is the wrench that will remove it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9WRQH9N?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 An I use this wand to flush out the hot water tank when I replace the rod. https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Rinser-Cleanses-Sediment-Collects-11691/dp/B002XL2IBS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2VJHLVWYUB6TN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bK25PkrKyDMmzbr-mVayhv5v6dI3qtz6OBwUGoCDBe6zVxrrzxKhT4TkMLHYjBWecAKpzhdgUHfPT0NO2xX08eBCie-bqigb-Lz_V-6wVVZRiQzhLv5NZ7ss5vvrqYyGrImkmmVQq1KmXw7H71bzFsetlhtBK0hJY0kSDsk22AWZOF6mrLAAubB7clpa5x9ZspKypqQfYoM678ghpQJ-Q3TdZsUlD1T6PHDxXnu9O4HkeNyoZsh5F1f_6zArzlREL9PfnMoDcfgzT5qmM4HHCFb1oCL1f8Est_BOdeb3l0w.lN80Ujc59M2dub_TbOWvppliIbkA8o9SG-6jbVY9vXs&dib_tag=se&keywords=rv%2Bhot%2Bwater%2Btank%2Bflush%2Bwand&qid=1762536517&s=automotive&sprefix=rv%2Bhot%2Bwater%2Btank%2Bwand%2Cautomotive%2C195&sr=1-4&th=1 Use a two or three wraps of teflon tape when replacing.

I have never heard of replacing yearly even if it is still good. I am curious as to why. Thanks

I’m with jato. Why replace a perfectly good part?

The socket that fits is as much as the anode or more, but the dealer price is outrageous. Why do you need to replace it so soon? We run hard water most of the time and clean out the tank every fall, and ours has plenty of life remaining.
