The 'pod sits fairly low w/o the risers.  A standard RV flip-out step is used on the 'pod, along with standard tongue jack, black/gray tank drain, and fresh water tank drain.  All of these things need to be raised.  If there isn't a removable step on the market, create one (the bracket on the standard step sits very low, I've already bent it once - come-along to the rescue).  Put the fresh water tank drain on the side, or at least find a plug that isn't 3 inches long.

I would suggest to anyone to just order the Pod with the risers.  Makes life a whole lot easier.  No more scraping the back on inclines or for those who like going on back trails, scraping the bottom.  The cost is very little if ordered with the risers.

Any idea what effect the risers have on MPG?

No measurable change in mpg with or without the risers! I installed the risers after a month of usage. My tow vehicle is a Jeep Liberty. I don't get very good mpg to begin with, driving the Jeep. I check my mpg via a ScanGauge II meter which has been calibrated to my vehicle.  Averaging calm/head/and tailwinds I loose about 8 mpg (at 55 mph) hauling my rPOD (with the holding tanks empty). I am sure larger vehicles would not have such a large drop in mileage. I hauled the Pod once with my full-sized Dodge pickup and found only a 2 mpg drop...the engine has more than twice the hp as my Jeep. I try to not to travel with partially filled/full waste tanks, and try to keep the clean water tank gallonage as low as possible.  I have only towed the pod once with nearly full tanks...that extra 600 lbs really made a difference in towing!
I don't think that raising the Pod just 4 inches makes much difference in wind resistance (even side winds)...but it made a big difference in campsite clearance and entering-leaving up a steep driveway.
I also found that my dump hose could just be laid on the ground without additional support.
The risers were a good investment.

My only issue with the risers is how the fenders look once the wheels are lower.  If the fenders could be dropped, too, I might consider it.

We have the risers and we think it looks just fine.  If I get a chance I'll post a picture.  Right now it's COLD outside.

I have not had any problems with the hight of pod as of yet. I would like to put a 2 step on instead of one. I would need a 5 inch drop for the first step not 7 like we have now. I have looked at many and so far have not found what i am looking for, also i cannot get down to look to see if they are welded on or bolt on .If bolted on then i would like to find a step that would have same bolt pattern. Just another mod i would like to make.
