Calendar Event: Week on a WV mountain! Posted: 09 Nov 2015 at 7:35pm |
Just got back from five days in West Virginia (my home State) perched on the side of a mountain for bow hunting. Boy those led lights don't use much power! I ran the light over the sink and one over the dinette plus the porch light some of the time and the boom box from dusk to 11 pm or so every night. Took on 15 gallons of water and used the sink as much as I pleased and after 5 days the battery indicated only half the juice gone. The fridge ran the whole time on propane and one night the furnace was required. Used the stove for coffee and cooking breakfast and dinner and did not run out. I did get two free dinners from cousins! Very comfortable stay, had a great time but didn't get my deer. The only problem was I couldn'd get the bump out to work. The motor ran but wouldn't catch. Had to help it out and had a heck of a time getting it in. Scheduled for waranty service.

Very cool. I love WV.
We last refilled the propane tank over memorial day, and I finally pulled it off yesterday. I estimate it has between a 1/4 to 1/2 left. We use it very liberally

Going by your description I bet the battery was lower than you think, due to the furnace mostly. You can't rely on the battery gauge to give you an accurate reading. Best way to do it is by taking a voltage reading after letting it sit for 3 hours with no load on it.

Sounds like good use of the pod and it's off grid capabilities. Thanks for sharing.

Same here. Went to Spruce Knob in the fall for a week, and it was wonderful to get away from DC :P

Took it in for waranty repair at General in Wixom,Mi. Turned out to be a sheared pin in the motor shaft. They said nothing I did. So hopefully won't have that problem again.
