Ultimately the pods are too small to make any difference where you put the detector. Keep in mind there are mounting restrictions on where you can put it, too. Like not within so many inches of the door, windows, or vents, not within so many inches of a wall, etc. Just use the fan like ChinookPod said.

I soon learned to turn on the Fantastic Fan plus open a window when I'm cooking toast. A little bit of cross-ventilation helps a lot.

has anyone relocated the smoke alarm in there 179? Our goes off while just making toast. Where it is located it's going off much to often
