My wife and I are new to Rving. Both now retired we have been looking at trailers for 6 months, we have tent camped. Home is Buffalo NY. There are a lot out there and the business is not organized as clearly as the automobile business. Except for sites like r-pod owners forum it can be hard to get good information. So here we are looking for a trailer this spring.   We have been to several dealers and to one show. So far the R-pod 171 or 172 look like good prospects for our uses which are trips for 1-3 weeks. thanks for now. Jim

Welcome Jim,
Good luck in your search!
If you looking for an early opportunity to break-in the trailer and share ideas with other R-Podders, we would love to see you at the Ontario F.R.O.G. Rendez-vous this June 4-7th at Ferris Prov. Pk. near Peterborough Ontario. Currently we have 12 R-Pods coming and you will be able to get some good ideas and share stories.
Cheers,
David

I think that maybe if its a used 2014 you are looking for, you may be better off looking for a good deal on a new 171. The factory warranties are not transferable if you buy new you will get the new factory warranty. I think that someone else mentioned the same thing that you maybe better off buying new, compared to the price of a one year old r-pod. R-pods are a very good choice but if you maybe interested in a Vibe. Stoltzfus Rv has some good deals, a new 2014 Vibe 6505 for $11,900 and few other models of Vibes on clearance.

You definitely want to get into as many different R-pod models as possible, and talk to their owners about the pros and cons.  Last year, I thought we wanted a 171, and was negotiating with an owner on a used one.  Then we went on an extended camping trip to Canada (with our popup) and had the opportunity to see a few R-pods "in the wild," talk to their owners, and get inside of them, as they were gracious enough to give us grand tours.  Came back convinced we wanted a model with a slide-out, and ended up buying a new 2014 177.

I too thought I wanted a 171 model initially. Then I went to a dealer and looked at a 177 model they had on the lot because I hadn't seen an R-Pod in person. After looking at the 177 we decide we liked having the slide out for more space when camping. When it was time to order I mentioned to that sales person that four adults would be sleeping in it on occasion and he suggested the 178 model because it has the slide out but bigger dinette area in the front. I bought the 178 and glad I did.
