Hello Fellow R-Pod friends,

Let me introduce myself. I’m Sherry aka Sam. I have spent my whole life hiking & tenting it. I spent the last 7 months looking at trailers and driving my Uncle nuts! I fell in love with the look and idea of the Teardrop Trailers. After looking at a few Teardrops, I decided I wanted to build one. While looking for plans I found R-Pods and started researching more about them. Well, I bought an R-Pod 179 a week later over the phone. Now my problem was I need to borrow a truck to go get it, since I owned a Mazda CX-5 (which I hated). I borrowed a 2011 F350 4dr 4x4 Diesel (loaded), I know it was over kill but beggars’ can’t be choosy. I loaded the dog and clothes and we were off! I got to the dealership the next day  in Missouri, filled out paper work, go the site where the R-Pod is set up (dealership/ camp ground letting me stay in it for 2 nights free), as I’m opening the door my dog plows past me, about knocking me on my butt to get into the trailer. He investigated the trailer and THEN decided to do circles in the bed messing up the comforter. When he’s done, he stops lets out a big si, jumps down and comes asking for a treat, REALLY!!! The owner of the RV Park was cracking up laughing as I did also. I looked at the owner and said: I think he likes he’s new dog house. In case you were wondering what type of dog I have. It’s a 2yr old Vizsla, named Mango!

The next morning I’m out walking my dog, I met a couple people staying in the campground. They comment on the size of the trailer and truck. I had the biggest truck and the smallest trailer in the park. They asked if I had ever owned or pulled trailers before. I said yes. I used to pull large enclosed race car trailers.  Then they asked if my dog likes the trailer.  I said yes. He loves it! We all had a good laugh! I brought the trailer back to Texas and spent the next 2 weeks packing it for a Hunting trip. I sold the 2013 Mazda CX-5 and bought a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 V8.

I just finished towing the trailer from Texas to Illinois and back. Trailer is very easy to tow, park, and set up. The only issue with the trailer is the Jesen stereo blowing the 10amp fuse and only playing a DVD ½ way before freezing. I’m also having a dealership install a small window in the door. I don’t like not knowing who’s knocking. Bird hunting for the last 2 weeks was a blast! Dogs tired and so am I.

Welcome.  I love the thought of the pods just being big dog houses!  Dogs must think its great that their humans get to sleep in their dog houses with them.

We've had our pod less time than you but living in Minnesota we haven't even slept in it. I'm envious of you and your dog. Welcome.
