Hi all, we bought our new 2015 (but old colors) 178 in Sept. I've been active in the Facebook group but just joined this forum. We've done a couple of nights in "Camp Driveway" and one three-night trip during foliage season to Long Lake in Naples, ME. Looking forward to many trips in 2015, starting by heading south to FL in mid-February for a few weeks. Hopefully winter will be over by the time we get back to Maine. See you on the road!

We bought a 2015 178 this spring (old colors). We went out west this summer and to Florida this December. Sure beats staying at hotels and wondering if the bed linen is clean, etc.

Good luck and have a good time on that December trip!  Lot of us are jealous of that!

True, but that is not why we bought a POD. If fact, we resisted and rationalized for 5 years before taking the plunge. I grew up in Oregon and started backpacking as a young teen. I was immediately hooked on the beauty and simplicity of nature as it is given. Sure, it's nice not to have to sleep in a bed that thousands or hundred of thousands have slept in before.  But, I would respectfully submit that there is so much more.

Looking up at the stars out in West Texas at Fort Davis, or waking up to the sounds of the surf on the beach at South Padre Island can be a surreal experience. After retirement, I can't wait to explore the other naturally beautiful given places in North America.

Here is a good example of a wonderful natural surreal experience:   Yosemitebear Mountain Double Rainbow 1-8-10

Obviously, you can't have an experience like this at a Motel 6 or even a Four Seasons, although I have heard that it may be possible after mass consumption on the Las Vegas strip. Disapprove

The moral of the story is...don't forget to stop and smell the roses. Smile

This is my quest...Smile Enjoy!

Welcome, I'm quite sure if winter is not over in north Florida it will be from Ocala south by mid February.
