Just an FYI, after approx 2 months and 6 days after picking up our 179, the co/propane detector started going off and would not reset or clear itself. I removed it and brought it to our dealer, they had a tech test it, found it was bad. They checked their stock found out they had none in stock. The service manager then took a screw driver and wire cutters. came back with the same model and gave it to us.
The detector was a safe T alert combination co and Lp detector  model # 25-741  the manual says that they should be good for 5 years.

Bears watch, it has a very irritating beep.

So soon though, the detector was stamped May 0f 2014 so it only lasted 2 months  must just be the install date and not how long it was sitting around in a warehouse.

I replaced mine in the first few weeks, not because of being bad, but because of the way it stuck out just waiting to get stepped on and broken.
Put in an Atwood flush mount one....already had it on hand for another RV that its detector was acting up, then started working properly, so I never installed it.

sometimes they will read falsely and go off just because of some dust on the sensor as well.  bit of canned air fixes things right up in that case.

We tried that and the tech did also. My next plan was a hammer but my other half thought better of it. So a quick snip snip and off to the dealer we went.

I have had the same problem on our 2011 RP-172, it does fine until we hit the road and switch from 12 volt to 120 in the camp ground then it goes off. I found the 12 volt fuse on the right side of the panel, second down kills the power, I wait 5 minutes and put the fuse back in and its ok. It can set in the drive way for 1 month with the power cable plugged in and never go off, its like when it switches from 12 volt to 120 confuses it.

dsmiths - Makes me wonder if your real problem is your converter, maybe creating RF noise or voltage spike when it is first plugged in, which causes a problem in the LP detector.
