So they're unsafe? Is that what Budward is implying? Just curious before I take an 8k mile trip.

Thanks.

I have a new 2014 179.
The TV in mine was labeled on the screen as 12v but it was not!  I have a thread here about that...very bummed to pay the ridiculous price for the tv to find it was AC current only...caveat emptor.

I don't much like the couch extensions either-   the front one could be removed, the rear one couldn't with out a lot of work- it is used as an electrical compartment for slide electrics, fridge wiring and other things...thats why the lid is screwed on.   However I removed the screws and we store lightweight stuff in there even with the wiring.

Can't say on the tires....mine is the east coast variety with street tread chinese maypops.

We are looking at a new 179. Some questions for you experts.
1. The TV. Is it both 12 V and 110? I see the 12V receptacle but salesman wasn't too informative.
2. 15" knobby tires on Hood River edition. Do they run rough and loud on the freeway? Don't have snow and mud in CA that we have to avoid.
3. Dinette/couch. Has anyone done any modifications - removing the extentions that create the "U", but stick out in the floor space. We don't need it for a bed. We want to just have a straight couch and it would be easier to get in and out around the table. One of the extentions opens for storage and the other had a lid that was screwed on. I just wonder if anything vital is under  it. Again, the salesman wasn't helpful.
Thanks .
Walt
