Hey ya'll,

I hope to be fully retired next year and spend most of my time seeing our National Parks. I dislike the indoors and can't wait to sell my home and hit the highway, most likely with my current sweetheart.

My camping experience has never included an RV so I'm at a huge disadvantage. I was raised in a family of 8. We never traveled but we did camp a lot. I actually remember, at about age 8 or 9, sleeping next to a fire on the ground in an old Army surplus sleeping bag. It was green and filled with feathers. Remember those? My Dad was a true Florida Cracker and taught me everything my brothers got to learn.

Although I can be a girly girl I was not afraid when I geared up for my first solo, backcountry hike on the Appalachian Trail at age 50. By the time I landed in Shenandoah NP I was truly in awe and base camped there for 2 weeks before I moved on. Sadly, back problems are keeping me from my tent.

I am very pleased to find this forum as I've been a member on whiteblaze.net for a few years. This is another new chapter I hope to make happen in an RP177 although the new 179 looks amazing.

Welcome.  Fellow backpacker here, although it has been a while between kids activities, family pod camping trips, etc.  Any chance you hung out in the Trail Talk forum (before it was killed off in January)?

Welcome, Freetogroove!  You are going to love retirement and being a Podder.  I am as they say "dumb as a stick" when it comes to hands on things but learning about Podding sounded lots better as a way to stimulate my brain than doing crossword puzzles.  Yep, I've made mistakes and will continue to do that but when I get in a bind, I jump on one of these RPod forums or the facebook page and ask for help and it's amazing how immediately you get info.  So enjoy both of your dreams!
