Hi
We picked up a used 2010 151 last week. After reading tips and maintenance, I was on a mission
to quiet the water pump. While in the compartment, I was appalled by the factory wiring job.
I removed about 20 feet of extra wiring. Also the 30 amp 110 red romex was chaffing through.
A bit of a water leak and the wire all the way chaffed through could have been fun.
First time towing, very stable behind my 2000 Ford E-150. I will need to change out the rear drive
ratio from 3.55 to 3.89. Any body had any luck with aftermarket ECU chips? The Rpod's sure attract
a lot of attention.

Welcome to the form and the life of owning a r-pod. It will take you a little time but you will be able to fix your r-pod the way you like it so that you can enjoy it. Yes they attract attention, I stopped at a rest area in Tennessee and there was a tour bus with tourist from Australia they were asking me questions about my caravan as they call a camper in Australia . And then they started taking turns taking group pictures standing beside the r-pod. I don't think you need to change the gearing in your differential what you have I think would work fine.    David

I just noticed that you have a E-150 not a F-150 maybe changing the differential would help.

Welcome.  I agree you shouldn't need to change your rear diff.  Going with a lower gear will hurt your mpgs.  You'll get more torque but the problem isn't getting the pod moving off the line, its the aerodynamic drag at highway speeds.  I have a 3.42 rear and can jump ahead of traffic from a stoplight w/o a problem.

Up here in Idaho, my 4.6l with all of 200 hp at sea level is probably down to 140 up at 6 thousand feet.  So it screams in 2nd gear at 65mph and on the flats with a stiff headwind, I can not pass
a semi in third. The wind they push is more than my 4.6 can handle. So I can turn the engine 260 rpm higher and get into the meat of the hp curve. Then without a headwind, OD will be usable.  Thinking of making some small wind aluminim deflectors and use super strong magnetics to hold them  in place. I guess the best thing would be an accordion type device to minimize drag between the TV and Rpod.

The aerodynamics professional that posted here a few days ago indicated the problem likely was the slope on the tail of the pod. Interesting stuff.
