It's and ill wind that blows no good, and as an old sailor I was grieved to see our 35 year old 26 foot Halsey Herreshoff sailboat, Star Chaser, blown off the trailer, centerboard up through the dinette, mast bent, and a 5 foot crack below the waterline.  With insurance money in hand, my 73 years showing their wear and tear, and lots of world cruising and camping as a background, Star Chaser, the land yacht, a 2010 Pod 177, rode to the rescue last week.

There are two couples partnering in this, Joe (that's me) and Karla, and Mike and Jolie.  Mike and I have been boat partners in 5 boats over many years with never a difficulty, so we expect this to go well too.

The 1st of October Karla and I will head up from Champaign to Johnson Sauk campground in northern Illinois to meet with the former owner (and his wife and new trailer) who was kind enough to have left a filled-out warrenty card on some equipment, thus allowing us to locate him.  Our Pod is old-new (ie., a couple of years old, but indistinguishable from fresh out of the box), and we are proud and grateful.

All that said, I do have a newbie question:  I am pulling this rig with a V-6 RAV4, and while there is lots of power, it seems to sway a bit.  Suggestions on brands and costs for weight distribution and sway control would be appreicated.

Thank you, and it is nice to make the acquintance with this group.

You can't go wrong with an E2 if you want sway and a WDH combo.

Condolences on the sailboat, Congrats on the land yacht, and Welcome!

There are 2 ways you can go for your TV ... either a weight distribution setup or a simpler friction-type sway control.  We have the latter on ours and we have had absolutely no issues with sway on it, even with some crazy storms that we have driven through.

Welcome.  I, too, can recommend the E2.  While weight distribution isn't necessary with the pods on most vehicles, I found it improved the ride quality so much that I still use mine even though I could get by with just a sway bar.  Think of it as an additional suspension system which absorbs motions that wouldn't be controlled by the TV's or pod's suspensions.

Sway control only helps to dampen sway after it has started.  There are things you can do to prevent it, which I discuss in the "maintenance manual" thread.  Look for it near the bottom of the list:

after traveling in a sailboat you will not have any issue with the limited space in an Rpod. Welcome to the forum.
