It is easier to get a Robertson screw on the bit but when I am torqing the screw down I find I am less likely to strip the torx out. But for wood screws up to 1 1/2 inches Robertson all the way.

Wow an American Manufacturer that uses Robertson screws. We have used square heads in Canada for years. Never caught on in the States I guess. They were the best screws for power driving until torx came along. 


Never caught on in the states?  LOL  Every RV I've owned in the last 40 years has used them.....
I like them ok, I don't particularly like the ones they make as a combo phillips and square drive-   they seem to easily tear up using either driverOuch



Agree The combination screws give you the worst of both types. This is my first RV so I did not know that the RV Industry had adopted the square drive as a whole.

Did you ever get hold of Forest River on the 12V aspect and the crappy wall mount?   We have the same problem.

Are you all saying the TV won't work on the 12 volt outlet?

If you are asking me then no I haven't talked  to FR yet-
Not sure I will, according to several posters on this forum calling FR directly will result in immediate extinction of all two legged life forms on planet Earth.LOL

I have emailed Jensen back asking for a swap of my tv that was labeled as a 12v model when it isn't.

As for the wall mount I'm just going to get the oxy/acetylene out and put the proper angle on the armOuch

If it is a 110V only tv like mine then, no it won't work on 12v.
Some come with a 12v tv and some come with a 110v one.
My issue was mine was labeled as 12v but is in fact not a 12v one.

I want to mount my tv in the 178. It feels like there is a solid wall behind the panel. Can I just screw the mount anywhere in that area?

The TV mount on our 2014 177 was manufactured by L & W engineering and uses a KEBLOC wall mount. L&W Engineering sells a replacement mount which tilts and uses the same KEBLOC wall mount. The cost is approx $175 for part 1019451. The new mount has an elbow rather than a long arm so is more adjustable. With the new mount, the TV is best stored with the screen facing the wall.

The bracket can be "tweeked-spread" to fit on the existing arm.A bench vise and Big Cresant wrench do the trick.Sand and repaint black.

Just remove the bolt from the new mount and discard the wall bracket and bolt.

 Fit to go over the existing arm using the original existing bolt. Tighten the prevailing Torque nut just enough so it can still swivel. The new bracket matches the holes in the Jenson TV as well.

Viola,TV can now tilt down or up to any position.

You will probably have to install the TV mount at the corner of the wall where there is sure to be some wood studs.

If you can gain access somewhere to see where the wall studs are located in the field of the wall,that would work too.

The wall covering itself is just too thin to hold up any substantial weight.
