Calendar Event: New 2010 Rpod today! Posted: 15 Mar 2013 at 10:49pm |
Picked up my "new" 2010 RPod 171 today! Pulled it over an 11,000+ ft pass in Colorado to my mountain home. Pulled well, inspite of the headwind! Hope to take it on it's first venture in early April when we head to norther NM and SW Utah. First fishing trip should be to the infamous "Mothers Day Caddis Hatch" on the upper Arkansas in CO. Pretty exciting, placing items in their special places and preparing for first outing.

I highly recommend doing a trip to "camp driveway" so you can work out the bugs before your big trip.

Welcome & congratulations! I second techntrek's advice of doing a one-night driveway camp ... it really helped us in figuring out how everything worked, how we wanted to organize the pod, and so on.

Does that mean that I should consider the "bed in a box" addition? At medicare age, I am sure that any added comfort will be more than welcome!!

Congratulations. Definitely try camp driveway. A 2 or 3 inch piece of memory foam for the bed will make a world of difference.

Yellowstonestu, I agree with the others, we use our 172 rear dinette to sleep on , we are close to medicare age 63/61. we can climb into the the double bunks, but it is easier to sleep on the rear short queen. We bought a I think 3 inch double foam at , god forbid (walmart) it was $99.00 and it sleeps like a dream. it has a joined soft and firm foam. I roll it up and tie it off with bungee cords and store on the top bunk when not in use, on your 171 you can leave it on permantley. it was the 99 bucks we spent so far as the factory cushions leave a lot to be desired.
