Back out again to our local county park this weekend, and learned how to install the Dome this time.  M pulled out the directions with it that start with "slide the bag into the track" and has pic's showing it going onto a tent trailer ... I fed the directions to the fire and we just layed it out and got it done on our own.  Probably about 20 minutes total, but now that we know what we are doing it will go up in probably 10 or so in the future.

One question though.  This was the first time I have ever used a dry graphite spray, and it made a bit of a mess and some of it ran out the channel and down the side of the Pod.  Tried cleaning it off with a damp rag but that didn't do the trick ... what do y'all use to clean it off with?

And now, for the obligatory pics.  This is from our first overnighter a week ago.  As you can tell the sites for tenting/trailering are not setup for trailers so much, as the electrical hookup is on the wrong side.

We were in the same spot this weekend and didn't back the Pod in as far so that we could clear the electrical with the Dome.  Tried using the suction cups that came with it to hold the sides on but those really don't work that well.

Lastly, a shot (slightly blurry ... sorry) from the evening with a fire going and the glow of the porchlight.  We are absolutely loving our Pod and looking forward to a great Thanksgiving weekend trip to one of our favorite State Park campgrounds!

Throwing the directions into the fire should be "Step #1" for the R-Dome, good choice.  Approve   We have always used a silicon spray for the track, door hinges, latches and anything else that needs a little lube from time to time, it was what our dealer recommended when we bought ours. If the silcon runs a simple wipe cleans it up and it does not attract dirt. Sorry can't help with how to clean graphite.    Goose
PS  Glade that you had a great weekend.

Pretty pictures!  Thanks!

We also have used regular silicone spray.  Works fine.  I would also recommend tapering the leading end of the channel plastic guide as shown in another post.  It makes clearing the screw heads much easier.

As for cleaning off the graphite, I would give SoftScrub a try.  It works very well on the "love bugs" here in Florida.  Get the 'without bleach' version, and your graphic decals will be safe.

I see the pup in the crate-  Isn't camping with pets the greatest?!?!

Yes, Comet loves to camp ... though he is still trying to figure out where to sit & lay in the Pod where he isn't getting underfoot!

Another cleaning option, one of those "magic eraser" brand sponges.  They work great on all kinds of issues like cooked-on food on glass top stoves but are very gentle on the surface being cleaned.

P&M great pictures, Donna and I have not been able to set up our Dome as everywhere we go there is not enough room to set it up, we will get there though eventually.

I also took my second trip last Thursday & Friday (11/8-9). It got down to 31*F - mighty chilly! It was misty & foggy, but no rain - just the way I like it! Sofie (the dog) is getting used to the trailer and we've claimed our own spots on the seats. She likes to snuggle down in the foot end of the bottom bunk at night. I'm getting used to the heater kicking on. It used to wake me up every time, but not so much anymore. I will definitely have to get a different mattress before next year's camping season.

Love your pics P&M and you too Capt. Irk.
There is over a foot of snow on top of Gastropod and I am so looking forward to spring and taking our new pup (6 year old Heidi shepherdX) on her first camping trip with us. Don't know if she has ever gone before as we got her from the Humane Society. Unlike most dogs she has to be coaxed into the van for car rides. She would not even sit on the seat the first month we had her. But I digress.

Your picture of the fire and your porch light is what is making me so homesick for the pod!
