Topic: I Ball Posted: 24 Aug 2012 at 9:33pm |
As most of us, I know about where the hitch is in relation to the ball, back up, uuhh left, back 1.5 foot, then uuhh straight back 8 inches, then uuhhh little right back 2 inches, then uuhhh, 1 in too far back. You know the story. I saw this thing called an I baller in trailer life mag. $139.00 delivered. It came today, its a color camera with a powerful magnet that sets on the tongue in front of your ball. The color monitor plugs into a cigar lighter socket with a nice well built flexable wand (kind of whats on a microphone) has great resolution and seems very clear, I only had time to plug it in before dark. I will report back on my findings. Oh P.S. when backing into a camping space you can take the camera and put in on the back of the pod on the rear frame member as the camera has a swivel base and actually see your camp spot as you back up. will report later. happy Poddin.

Interesting, I'll be waiting for your review. I need to add a backup camera to my TV.

Our Jeep has a back up camera on it that uses the screen of the radio in the middle of the dash, I don't think that I will be with out one from this point forward as you can back up to the ball and be right on the money every time. It almost feels like you are cheating it is so easy to hook up. Goose

The Tacoma we tow with has a back-up camera too ...but there's just enough distortion in field of view that getting the ball RIGHT smack dab under the hitch is still trial and error at times.
Looking forward to getting your feeback on the I-Ball ...

My back up camera is set so that I can see the ball in the bottom of frame and the screen has hash marks on it that make lining it up a breeze. You learn that when the hitch is at a certain hash mark you are lined up.

I'm doing a lot better with the back-up camera on the Tacoma ...now that I finally broke down and put my reading glasses on when I'm using it. Another thing I did was to buy some little (1/2") neon colored paper dots. I put one on the ball and one centerred on the hitch. I can come pretty close ...
