Heading out for our first RPod adventure. We have been busy doing several mods on our slightly used 177 and are excited finally to use the RPod.  Whenever we get a "new" RV we take it out for a couple of days to test it out and see what kind of mods we would like to do and to get used to the RV.
Wanted to go to a New York State Park that had electricity, so that limited our choices and and we didn't want to travel too far. Using ReserveAmerica I found a place with availability , Southwick Beach on Lake Ontario. So wish us luck!

Had a wonderful time on Lake Ontario, it was like being on an ocean. Weather was perfect so lots of beach walking and reading. Also had fun biking, so glad both bikes fit in the Pod when traveling. We made a list of the things we wanted to tweak in the Pod, nothing major. We did, however, decide that two mattress toppers were not enough to compensate for the crummy mattress. Any ideas out there for a good mattress for the Pod?

Welcome to podding in NY!

We've not done any of the NY state parks, yet, just some private ones and Feds in PA. We'll have to check out Southwick, it sounds great.

As for a mattress fix, we put a 2" pillow topper on top of a 4" memory foam topper and sleep like babies.

Paige, we too live in upstate NY and land our EscapePod in many parks in the Adirondaks.
We also looked into MANY options with the matress and tried the foam under memory foam, pillow toppers, etc. and none seemed quite right for us. In the end, we ordered this locally and it seems to work very well. One of the side benefits of it, is that it is light.

The price is NOT $600! It cost more like $350.
