Anyone thought of replacing the air conditioner with a "quieter" unit?  It really is loud.

Any non-ducted unit in such a small space is going to be loud.

The 11,000 BTU model in my pod is much louder than the 13,500 model I had in my popup.  Very noticable as I stood directly underneath both of them.

Hodge-Podge, I've had an ongoing discussion of that very thing on this thread.  Found an expensive option at first, then a cheaper one (but still not cheap), now at the suggestion of another member I'm considering trying to modify a window A/C which could be mounted on the tongue.  I would add ducts to it, and as a proof of concept I would mount them through one of the windows.  I wouldn't mount it through the wall or a window!  http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1433&title=possible-replacement-for-the-a-c

Different acoustics between the two campers.  Good luck with whatever you do.

Just to give an update. Dometic shipped a whole new unit and I picked up the Rpod today. Can't say for sure what it was, as there was no troubleshooting involved... just pulled the current one and installed the new.
One good thing that came from this is that i found my repair center for future problems. Close to home and fast turnaround. The only wait was getting the A/C from Dometic. He also quoted me $50 to winterize... $40 to summerize. Sounds like a bargain to me. I know it's not difficult to do myself... but for that kind of money, worth letting someone who does it for a living take care of it.

We also took time during this little hiccup to re-assess our traveling needs. We decided to upgrade to a better TV. We purchased a 2012 Nissan Armada... towing was more of an added benefit, not a determining factor in purchasing. The wife was moving on from being a mini-van mom to an Accord, so we were looking for something a little bigger than the Trailblazer to take the place of our van. I wanted a Titan... she wanted me to have an SUV. I went with the Armada since it had the best tow rating (9000# w/ tow package). I must admit... it tows like a DREAM compared to the Trailblazer (5200# rating).

Thanks everyone... time to plan for our next trip. We are so looking forward to FALL CAMPING in the beautiful state of PA.

KHDfan, we would enjoy seeing you a our roundup in September! We'll be up in Sullivan County, PA at the Pioneer campground. Please check out their website and our thread for the NE Roundup in the camp outs and roundups section.
We're going to have a great time!

Would love to come... however... that's the same weekend as FARM AID 2012 in Hershey, PA. Camping at the Hershey Highmeadow Campground. Neil Young, Dave Mathews, John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson are performing at Hershey Stadium.

OK, Mark. Maybe we can get together some other time this fall. We had a midwinter roundup last January at French Creek SP. cold but fun!

Congrats on the upgrade, Mark.  We will be at Highmeadow in 2 weeks, for the first time.
