hi!

been lurking for a while as we waded through the choices for a new small camper that would sleep a family of 5.  finally landed on the 172T AND got an AMAZING deal on a unit repo'd from a closing dealer to another local dealer!

paperwork went through today!

probably be a couple weeks before delivery as i have asked for risers to be installed and the dealer has to order them as well as do his own set up of the camper, etc... but its too cold here to camp anyway right now!  (central MO)

aaaanyway.  we are excited.  we are moving from a pop up due to set up time and aggravation as well as poor temperature control.

one of the things we were considering for the pop up was pop up gizmos which apparently help temp control immensely in a pop up and i am wondering if anyone has used these on the pop out portion of any of the T trailers?  or any other tips for temp control or what not on those units?

so, hi.  i hope to be fairly active in here now :)

Welcome to the group and congratulations on your new camper!  I didn't try to do anything with any of my popups but, one or two here have used some sort of reflective material to cover the tent ends and spoke well of it.

Welcome.  Radiant and insulative barriers are a must in a popup, but I don't think you'll need them in your 'pod.  The A/C and heater  are both oversized - partly because the interior is smaller than a popup and also because the walls and floor are over-insulated (2" on the 'pod vs. 1" on most other trailers).  Even with radiant barriers in the 6 windows on the beds in our (EDITED) POPUP we would need two electric heaters on high when it was in the 30's, now just one on low (and still cycling on/off) is necessary in the 'pod.  So I don't think you'll need to take special measures on the tent end unless you are camping in very cold temps.  Hot temps probably won't be a problem.

Congrats on the new camper.  I have found that our 171 keeps too warm in the winter so you may be ok without anything on the tent part.  I use the stock heater and have learned to drown out the noise.
