The Free Piston Sterling Cooler we got from our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore has worked very well for storing perishables. The refrigerator can then be used for things that need to be cool, but do not necessarily need to be kept below 40F.

That being said, I don't know if the change in propane regulators was the thing that did it. I cleaned the flue and the burner orifice also. On our recent trip, the refrigerator performed okay. I'm not sure why it started working better this trip after being inadequate on previous trips. Perhaps something was blocking the lines and it got knocked loose or some other reason, but I was seeing good temperatures overall with occasional higher temps if the door had been opened for longer than a few seconds. I still kept meats in the cooler though as it stays within one or two tenths of 4C (about 39F). This is a cooler used by the pharmaceutical industry to transport items. They were donated to ReStore and I was able to get it with an insulated bag and the 12 and 120V power cords (and transformer) for $100. It has been a great buy as new ones sell for many times more, especially if they are the type that can get down to freezing temperatures also.

+1 comment to Jato post on moving the temp sensor switch. I also did move the temp switch. Before doing so I used a Fluke infrared temp sensor (they are good to have, not just for RV issues) to monitor temps along the cooling fin tube. The mounting provision on mine was 5 fins from the end of cooling line. I moved it to the right at the output of the cooling fins. With fridge running on shore power, an outside temp 90 degrees. The cooling line was at 136 degrees at provided mounting point. At the new mounted point, temp was 176 degrees. As soon as I moved it and connected the wiring the fan came on, it was not running before. For the short time I monitored fridge today, that seems to make a cooling improvement. Interestingly I only have one cooling fan, some have reported two. On mine it was NOT low it was left on the tube and I moved it right at end of cooling fins. I had already performed checks to ensure fan and switch were operational. Simple mod.
