The electric hot water heater switch is a real pain in the you know what to find! The switch is outside in the water heater compartment. In the picture, bottom left corner, there is an arrow pointing to the switch.

You can use electric and LP at the same time, you will get a faster recovery rate as a result (see the link below). The electric thermostat is set slightly higher than the LP thermostat so when you are in a full-hookup site the electric element will keep the temperature "topped off", but when you start a shower the LP will kick in, too.
Also note that there is a reset button underneath the heavy rubber gasket.
