Our air conditioning unit is unbearably noisy to the point that it overpowers the radio and/or tv. It also makes it hard to sleep. I don't recall our Coleman unit on our pop up that we had years ago being loud. Any suggestions?

At night, I typically set switch to Fan, set it to LO, and then switch back to A/C. That makes the fan run all the time, but at a slightly lower noise level. For me, it makes a nice white noise generator that doesn't interfere with sleeping. The constant on and off with the fan in AU mode would keep me awake.

I do likewise. The first night or two, it was annoying. After that, it became just a background noise. One thing that also helped was to have our heads toward the bathroom/wardrobe end of the bed. The wall blocks a little bit of the sound. It also makes it easier to get in and out of bed as I can use the dinette cushion to help climb over my wife's feet instead of over her upper legs during the night for those necessary trips.

+2 we left ours on low all night and put the fan on auto during the day.

This post describes things I did to mine which quieted it down somewhat:

We are in TN and haven't needed AC at night, we have a fan and sleep with poncho liners as a cover (lightweight nylon), also leave the bathroom fan on to ventilate. Even with temps in the 70s the pod is cool inside.

I wear ear plugs,a little uncomfortable but it's worth it to get a decent nights sleep.I also run the fan in the low mode.
