A few items to note about the air conditioner. First, the air conditioner changed with models built after mid-June 2009. The original version had controls mounted on the unit in the ceiling. Later models now have a wall-mounted thermostat which controls the A/C and the heater. The thermostat also allows you to control the fan - either always-on (as most RV A/Cs are), or automatic where it cycles on with the compressor.
Many people with the older model wanted to modify it so the fan stays on all the time, and member BillB figured it out. The instructions can be recreated here upon request.
Finally, many people have complained about the sound level coming from the A/C. I agree, its very loud. Some possible options have been discussed, including adding sound baffling inside (used by car stereo installers), opening up the ducts, or adding a motor controller so the fan can be turned down somewhat (which would void any warranty and might allow the compressor to freeze up). If you find a good solution to this problem, please post it.

I have a quick question concerning the above comment...
I took delivery of my 2010 R-Pod 151 in mid-October. The Ohio title stated that it had been manufactured in July, 2009. However, my furnace is controlled by a simple analog thermostat, while the ceiling A/C only has built-in controls. (not a combined temp controller!) Do different models (lengths) of R-Pods have different climate controls? |

I hadn't heard of a later production run with the older A/C unit but its possible. Maybe they had some extra stock and had to get rid of it, or there was a later production run with the older A/C that we didn't know about. As far as I know all models now have the single thermostat control for heat and A/C.

That can happen. Production runs can change units from the previous ones. In this economic times we have seen FR use anything they can and be more inconsistant. Best to ask and inspect it prior to taking delivery.

Why does the fan on the air conditioner stay on after the air is off?

I have a 2010 Rpod 171 and my controls are separate as well. The wall thermostat is simply for the heat, while the A/C controls are on the A/C on the ceiling. I prefer it this way actually. I also don't think the A/C is that loud, but then again, I can sleep through a bomb going off and also prefer the loud white noise.
