We've been back for a week now, but I wanted to share some information about our trip. We were out for three weeks, starting near Banff, AB at Johnston's Canyon, cutting through the Okanagan valley in BC, down through Washington State to Astoria, OR where we took a week to explore down the coast before heading to Crater Lake, then we made our way to Coeur d'Alene and we finished up at Waterton Lakes, AB.
The whole trip was great and we were relatively comfortable with three kids in the 176T. There is definitely more room in there than you would expect! Places I'd spend more time next time: 1. Williamson Lake, near Revelstoke BC. Nice little lake and campground where the kids had a blast in the water and on the playground. Also, down the road is the Enchanted Forest and SkyTrek Adventure Park, where you could easily spend most of a day. 2. Okanagan Falls, BC - fun beach, great beach for the kids, lots of wineries to explore. I'd spend a day floating down the river in Penticton and then playing on their beach, just up the road, too. 3. Yachats, OR - we were just passing through, but it really looked like a hidden gem. I'll book a couple of nights there next time. 4. Smith River, CA - this was a spectacular drive and I wish we knew it was there when I was researching the trip as I would have booked two or three nights in the area. Huge trees, white water, steep mountains - just gorgeous! Here are a few shots of what we saw and where we parked the rpod: Johnston Canyon - the only spot where we had space to set up the rdome: Lower Falls, Johnston Canyon, AB (near Banff) Upper Falls Okanagan Falls, BC - our little rpod right on the beach, in amongst the giants Haystack Rock - Cannon Beach, OR Seal Rock Cove, OR Crater Lake, OR Waterton Lakes, AB |
