I drive down a lot of dirt roads and suggest that you might replace the screws that attach the hinges to larger doors with some bigger screws. The stock stuff is might be ok for smooth pavement but falls out on washboard or rough roads.

We just got back from Alaska - don't forget blackout material for the windows, at least the ones next to the bed. It still stays pretty light up there! I used thin blue foam insulating sheets and cut them to fit the windows. Worked great. Have a wonderful trip! Our Pod did GREAT!!

Thanks for the heads up on the converter charger. Yeah both batteries are hooked together for use. Together also for charging,by either Solar or Convertor and of course while driving down the road. Double the available amps, both are 12V,should keep good for days dry camping! |

No worries about the converter overcharging, it is a proper 3-stage charger. Also if those batteries are two 120 volt batts, you'll get more total amperage by always charging and using them together instead of one at a time. Look up Peukert Effect for techie info.

I just finished adding a 2nd battery....
I used a Marine cutoff switch mounted directly to the Battery box. I can now isolate the battery from the camper at anytime.,But retained a permanent connection to the Zamp port so I can charge from the Solar panel at any time regardless of cutoff switch position. Also enables me to be plugged in to shore power any length of time without fear of over charging the batteries or boiling them to bits Plus I added a steel cable and lock to keep honest people honest.... |
