Having just finished our third camping trip in our RPOD 179.  The wife has two issues:
1) That the hot water does not get hot enough.  She says in our previous trailer the water got scolding hot.  I've read that there is a high temp limiter on the hot water, could this be the reason.  Is there a way to adjust it to get the water hotter?

2) The ambient light from the radio panel is bright enough that it bothers her at night.  Other than covering it up is there a way to adjust the brightness?

Thanks in advance.

1. Check the position of the bypass valve on the water heater. Ours gets up to 130 degrees, which is the limited temperature. If the bypass valve is open, it mixes hot and cold water and all you get is tepid water.

2. There is a way to adjust the brightness. On the left side of the display are two buttons for brightness. It will adjust from off, and 1-9 for brightness, with 9 being the brightest. Ours was set too high. I have it set to 1, which is the dimmest, and it is tolerable.

I agree on #1, and you could add a switch to kill the radio power if the setting Stephen mentioned isn't dark enough (I believe someone here did that).

I did mention that there is the "off" setting which turns the display light off completely. Adding a power kill switch should not be needed. Just keep pressing the down button repeatedly and it will dim until it reaches the off setting and the display light turns off.

We prefer the "1" setting as it is nice to have a little bit of light for those nighttime trips. We also added a curtain between the main area and the bed using a compression shower rod which is the old style with the spring inside. The new style of twist-lock does not work as it tends to not stay locked and falls down. Shutting the curtain allows one of us to go to bed earlier if the other decides to stay up a bit longer. It also blocks any stray light like that of the radio or the other night light we keep plugged in next to the door. Smile

Hi, I have a 2016 179, and we have plenty of hot water.

The Jensen radio lights can be a pain. We put up a tension rod with blackout curtains, and with the foil window coverings, even at high noon the bed area is pitch black.

I put in a "master" power switch to the Jensen unit, for the reason you describe. The unit only gets turned on when I want to watch a DVD.

It's easy to do, if you have a place in mind for a switch. I can give you details, if you wish to go that route.

Upon reading the above posts, I consider myself fortunate in not having all those accessories.  Maybe sometime in the future we may consider an A/C unit but then we would either have to purchase a generator to power it or go to a campground with electricity.

Somewhere in the distant past someone came up with a button to turn the display off, not the backlighting but the display. I have full control of backlighting but the display is impossible to read because I can't remember how to turn it back on! Any one out there remember how to do that?

Thanks, Phil
