Would like to know other rpod owner's views & experience regarding an extended warranty. Our 179 is almost a year old and we've gotten a quote from our dealer/servicer of between $1380-1580 with corresponding deductibles of $300-100 for a 7 year platinum plan warranty with USA Travel Care. The coverage appears to be pretty extensive & i'm sure if/when things start going wrong repairs can get expensive quickly. Feedback ?

I'm no fan of extended warranties.  They almost always are a rip-off.  We did pop for the second year of the Forest River warranty for $150 when we bought ours in 2014, but the cost made it almost a no-brainer.

With the deal you describe, you'd be looking at a couple of thousand dollars (or more) when you throw in deductibles.  To me, that seems way excessive.  If, a couple of years from now, your A/C or furnace or water heater or whatever would go out, replacement cost would be well under that.

Another thing to consider:  Most of the appliances as well as the axles are warranted by their manufacturers, not Forest River.  Maybe someone can chime in who has the manuals and info at their fingertips, but I believe many of those items are warranted beyond the one-year Forest River warranty.

Skip the warranty, it is basically a money maker for the dealer.  We opted out of any warranty on our 177 and now 5+ years later would have never used it.

Really appreciate the responses, going to further check out the two other warranty options you all provided then make a decision. Probably saved us a chunk of change !

I did buy the 6 year for $657.00 warranty from Protective.

Search the plan and you will find overwhelming positive experiences. You may never use it. Then again...

Also, I consider it a selling feature when we do decide to sell the Pod and upgrade to our Airstream Land Yacht. I'm leaning towards the Mocha interior. A bit brighter than the Polar.

Insurance is all about risk tolerance. I usually never buy extended warranties, but this plan just seemed like a reasonable purchase and I had the extra cash
