I've used these in the past on autos. But you need a grease gun as well .

I think some of them have "no maintenance" bearings, like cars. It depends on the maker of the axle/hubs.

It is usually recommended to service the wheel bearings every 12mo./12,000 miles. If it has never been done, it would not hurt to have them serviced. The factory(s) do not always do the best job of it. I would want to know that they are in good shape before leaving on a long trip. Here is something to look at: bearing post It is not a hard job but, it is a messy job. You can buy the repacking tool or, as I do, put a dollup of grease in your hand and manually repack the bearings. When I do mine, I always buy some spray brake cleaner and clean the pads, etc., also. You can get everything you need at a good auto parts store. If you do a search (upper right) on "bearings", you'll get several pages of hits. If you are not confident that you can do it, most any mechanic could. Shop around. |

Ditto, my dealer told me the same 12 month or 12,000 miles.

Hey, that's better than my dealer. He said every 2000 miles.

Just had my local mechanic do mine 2 weeks ago. I think it was about $150 for 2 axles, including new seals.
If you just do weekend trips every summer you can go a few years between service. Definitely do it before a big trip, along with a once-over on the TV. You'll probably also need an oil change for the TV mid-way.
