IF there had been a raised lip around the fresh water location to prevent spilled sewage or other items from going down into the hole to where the faucet was (about a foot down), I might not have been so worked up about it. As it was, the sewage connection was elevated an inch or two (I did not measure), with a slight slope inside the ring toward the opening. There was not a spring loaded closure. Nor was there any sort of physical barrier which could prevent spilled sewage from running down into the water connection.

As of now, I have not heard anything back from the Bullett county health department. I think I will resend it and this time CC the state health department.

I agree the setup described sounds horrible.  I have always seen the water connection elevated.  There is no way to insulate a line from freezing even if it is at ground level so that reasoning is bull.  The worst I've seen is a sewer connection elevated, instead of recessed to catch spillage.

If they are cousins, then there is a likelihood that they are also married!

Disclaimer: My parents are from Gatlff - Whitley County....about 10 miles NE from Jellico, TN. Last I heard, Whitley was still the poorest county in KY.

Hoosier by birth certificate...raised hillbilly!

(I know you are wondering.....NO, all of my cousins were "spoken for")

We were in site #15. I was looking for the water hookup as I could not believe initially that it would be so close to the sewer connection. I saw some of the other RVs connected, plus I asked someone I saw nearby to confirm that it was the water connection. No response so far from the health department. However, it has not even been a day since I wrote, so I expect it will not be an immediate reply.

If Bullitt County's health department does not respond, I will go up the ladder to the state health department. I would expect that the state department head and the owner are less likely to be related.

It's Bullitt County.. writing won't do anything. If there is anyone there that can read, they are cousins to the owners.

I have never stayed there, but they have a ton of full timers. There is a nice KOA just about as far away to the east.. to late now of course.

And that is not the norm, anyway shape or form. In 40 years of camping, I have never seen or heard of such a setup. Benn in at least a dozen Kentucky RV parks, none was like that. I do know grandma's had a poor rating online when I checked a couple years ago...

EDIT: Oh, and I have to run to the 'ville this week, will have to stop and check that out..

I just finished an email to the health department outlining the situation. I will be interested to hear what the reply will be. When I do hear something, I will post it here.
